I talked to my dad about obtaining a poster board paper for the map. He ended up getting a 22 by 28 inch piece, which will be sufficiant (I hope) for the sign. Also, I have asked him about the plastic shetts which will contain the poster board. I took some pictures for the blog, which I then emailed to Chloe so we could upload them onto the blog.

Today we worked together on putting the final details on the rough draft of our map. We also posted various information and pictures on our blog fr the project. We also discussed how we are going to add some adjustments to the construction of the sign.

My dad and I started lining up pieces and making sure everything was cut correctly. We measured where the letters are going to end up being placed and drilled holes in the crossbars for them. Holes were also drilled on the top and sides to hold the entire sign together, some even got screws put in.

These are the letters we bought to use. They are the perfect size and much more fancy than anything we could have cut ourselves.

Our final rough draft. It is very off scale, but it is very hard to draw a garden to scale from memory. We will try to make our final draft much more to scale.

We went and got the wood last week. After a lot of debating we decided to buy pressure treated 2x4s for the frame and we will use a piece of plywood my dad already has for the backing.

The next Saturday we cut all the wood into the pieces we need to construct the frame for the sign.

My dad did the hard job of chipping out a block of wood where we will set in the plastic sheet, map, and plywood.

My dad helped me screw in one of the screws to hold together the top and sides of the frame.

Trying to fit the letters into the groove my dad cut on his saw.

We tightened up the pieces with clamps so we could position the letters and mark where they are so we can drill holes where we will put screws later.

This is the drill and drill bit sets we used for the frame.

This shows one side where we screwed together the crossbeam to the side.

My dad marking the sides to know where to put the screws in.

These are the screws we used, they have to be long so they can reach through the sides and into the crossbeams.

This is another view on the clamps we used.
