<JasmineRomano> I started to fill out the proposal and answered questions I could. Chloe, you will need to go back and check my answers and see if you can answer the ones I left blank.

<ChloeStothers> I answered all the other ones except the timeline. I don’t know what we should do for that. I think we should talk to Mr. Bursch about it. Lets plan to meet tomorrow during tutorial with him. I added to some of your answers and you can add more to my answers as well.

[2014-02-13]
<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers> We met with Mr. Bursch today during tutorial and worked out some problems we were facing. We also got a better feeling for what he wants in the garden. He advised us to add a roof which we had not thought about. He also gave us more direction for the little signs.

[2014-02-14]

<JasmineRomano> I submitted the proposal to Mr. Bursch he should be informing us if our project is approved soon. In the meantime we can start planning out the layout of the signs. Would you want to talk to to your dad about material options?

[2014-02-18]

<ChloeStothers> I talked to my dad to try to get input on what materials/type of wood we should use and we worked on deciding a height for the the sign and some sort of roof type thing. We may have some extra roofing tiles, some sort of plastic sheet, and some wood we could upcycle in our garage.

[2014-03-13]

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers> We started our team blog and started our portfolio documents. We plan to meet again tomorrow to start drawing the map and figure out sizing of the letters. We were informed that another group is making small signs for the gardening beds so we are rethinking our idea of making little signs.

[2014-03-14]

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers> We met together today to collaborate/brainstorm ideas and goals for our sign. Today we figured out font style and sizing for the letters we are placing above and below the map. We printed out template letters we will trace to use for when we cut them out. We also tried to start on the map but google maps is not updated enough to use for a rough sketch/outline for the garden map. Ideas for things to include on the back of the map were also thrown out.

[2014-03-15]

<ChloeStothers> I cut out the letters we are going to use to cut out the actual wood letters. We will need to get materials and draw the map before we can do much more on the actual sign.

[2014-04-14]

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers> Today we met together to continue making progress on our project.  We measured and decided the dimensions of our sign, letters, as well as our map.  We also sketched a draft of our map, and are now ready to go out and buy the materials. We also figured out that we are no longer going to put other stuff on the back of the map, instead we are going to make it an area where you can pin up information.

[2014-04-22]

<ChloeStothers> I talked with my dad on how we are going to structure the sign and put it all together. We also looked in to a place that sells custom cut plastic sheets.

[2014-05-02]

<ChloeStothers> I looked up supplies we will need and what types of wood and sealer would be best to use. I also finished figuring out dimensions for the sign.

[2014-05-06]

<ChloeStothers> My dad and I talked more about the building part and went to home depot and picked out the lumber and nails we are going to use to put the sign together. We looked at their plastic sheet options but they didn’t have what we need.

[2014-05-07]

<ChloeStothers> My parents took me to Hobby Lobby to get pre-cut letters to save Jasmine and I from having to do a lot of extra work.

[2014-05-10]

<ChloeStothers> My dad and I measured everything and figured out how everything was going to fit together. After we made sure everything measured correctly we got all the pieces we needed cut.

[2014-05-12]

<JasmineRomano> I talked to my dad about obtaining poster board paper for the map.  He ended up getting a 24 by 30 piece, which will be sufficient (I hope) for the sign.  Also, I have asked him about the plastic sheets which will contain the poster board.  I took some pictures for the blog, which I then emailed to Chloe so we could upload it into the page.

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  Today we worked together on putting the final details on the rough draft of our map.  We also posted various information and pictures on our blog for the project.  We also discussed how we were going to add some adjustments to the construction of the sign.

<ChloeStothers>  My dad and I started lining up pieces and making sure everything was cut correctly. We measured where the letters are going to end up being placed and drilled holes in the crossbars for them. Holes were also drilled on the top and sides to hold the entire sign together, some even got screws put in.

[2014-05-13]

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  We met together at my (Jasmine’s) house to continue working on our project.  We started figuring out and measuring the dimensions of the garden, and thanks to Chloe, our map is more to scale than our rough draft originally was.  Unfortunately, our dimensions for the map on the sign was a little off, but Chloe fixed our little issue with scaling sizes.  We also planned on meeting for future times this week, and are planning on going in for tutorial to ask Mr. Bursch some clarifying questions.  Also, some sort of progress has been made on the budget spreadsheet.

<JasmineRomano>  After Chloe left, I asked my dad about how the budget spreadsheet worked, as we were confused when inputting some of the variables and costs.  He promised to help me out understanding how to work the budget spreadsheet.  I believe Chloe will input some of the other costs of the signs into the table in her own time as well.  In addition to that, I made sure to take some more pictures for the blog before I cleaned our workspace up after we were finished.

[2014-05-14]

<JasmineRomano> I made sure to post some pictures from yesterday’s work session onto our blog as long as other pictures throughout the project that we may have missed.

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  During tutorial, Chloe and I met to continue working on finishing the final draft of the map.  Plus, we had a conversation with Mr. Bursch concerning our project and the garden, as well as asked some questions for the map.  Chloe and I also walked down to the garden to ensure we made the map accurate, and we took some pictures for the blog.  We posted some of the pictures of the garden and such on the blog later on.

[2014-05-16]

<ChloeStothers>  I started coating the letters with the first coat of spar varnish. I got through the first coat on both sides, but they will need overnight to fully dry.

[2014-05-17]

<ChloeStothers>  I put the second coat on the fronts today, but it was a little bit thicker than the first coat so I won’t be able to put a second coat on the back until tomorrow.

[2014-05-19]

<ChloeStothers>  The fronts have dried now so I put a second coat on the back. If we didn’t put two coats on then the weather would affect it a lot more and the sign would not last as long as a whole.

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  We met today to continue working on the map. We have now outlined the entire poster board and just need to go over everything in color. Unfortunately the sun is a big factor to look at when making a sign so most materials would not hold up against the fading that happens. Because of this we decided on using colored pencil for the entire map. This means that we will need to color everything hard to make it dark.

[2014-05-20]

<ChloeStothers>  I started coloring more of the map and took notes on what last few things we need to include on it.

[2014-05-22]

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  During class we had time to work more on the project so we got computers and updated our documents and filled in information we had missed before.

[2014-05-25]

<JasmineRomano> I realized that our original timeline was incorrect and irrelevant, so I notified Chloe about it and I will try to correct it.

[2014-05-26]

<ChloeStothers>  I put more information on our documents that I did not have access to at school on Thursday.

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  We continued working on the map, which consisted of coloring and drawing.  We went traced the writing in colored pencil.  We colored most main bodies, and finished the majority of the descriptions.  Also, we planned to meet again tomorrow to finish the map.

[2014-05-27]

<JasmineRomano>  Chloe let me know that of an error on our map, and we had an issue figuring out how to fix it. I asked Mr Bursch, and he gave some suggestions, so I think we’ll test some ideas before correcting the error on the actual map.

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers>  Once again, we met again to work on the map. However, this time, we were able to completely finish the map.  Also, we took and posted more images onto our blog.  Not only that, but we checked Mr. Bursch’s requirements and started updating our documents and checking to make sure we had everything we need.

[2014-05-28]

<JasmineRomano>  I continued working on transferring the data from our project activity log to our timeline.  It is now all up to date as of today.

<ChloeStothers>  I put all of the information from all our different documents onto our blog. I updated the blog with a lot of pictures as well and started putting captions on them.

[2014-05-29]

<JasmineRomanoChloeStothers> Chloe and her dad finished constructing/building the sign at her house.  We fixed the team blog, as well as added some components.  All online documents were updated to its fullest.  We are trying to plan out how we are going to bring the sign to school.  As we have just found out, Mr. Bursch is not going to be at school tomorrow (due date of the project).  So we have to work around that and either turn everything else (electronically) tomorrow and transport the sign to class on Monday.  Either way, we have to figure that out.

[2014-05-30]

<ChloeStothers> The sign was dropped off at school today where it will soon be mounted in cement so it can be placed in the garden. We hope to have it up soon so people can start using it.
